Center for Global Mountain Safeguard Research

Center for Global Mountain Safeguard Research

Over 900 million people worldwide live in mountain areas. Mountains are considered the water towers of the world and supply half the world's population with fresh water. Through applied and transdisciplinary research, the Eurac Research GLOMOS programme, in alliance with UNU-EHS, contributes to the conservation of natural and economic resources and consequently, the livelihoods of mountain areas.

this picture shows the UN flag raising that took place on September 25th, 2020. The event marked the official establishment of the United Nations duty station in Bolzano, where the center Global Mountain Safeguard Research (GLOMOS) is jointly run by UNU-EHS and Eurac Research.
